September 1st Shop Update

To our friends, family, & supporters,

The last few months have been a wild ride to put it lightly, but we’ve been able to surf out these waves of uncertainty and have stayed safe and strong with the support and love we’ve received from our community.

2020 has been a challenging and turbulent year for everyone.  The Covid pandemic has changed our day to day lives in many ways and has put major strains on the skateboard industry supply chain, we’re living through an overdue movement for social justice that is underway, while other unprecedented political tensions are rising every day.  In these strange times we must all remain patient and focus on the positive energy that surrounds us.

In the midst of everything else going on, we had to move out of our Allston home after 10 years in April.  Instead of moving to a larger new space in Cambridge as planned, we have moved to a temporary location in Brighton while we adapt to the new normal and ride out the pandemic before we commit to a more permanent home.  We are currently working out of a warehouse space fulfilling all the online love that has been coming in, and are slowly building out a small retail location around the corner on Market street.

We miss seeing y’all on a daily basis, but as much as we want to open up the doors to our new location, we all have families and other people in our lives to consider, and opening up to the public has been a challenging issue to navigate.  We will be announcing a plan on how we can start introducing brick and mortar hours in the near future, and we will continue to operate online only for the time being.

But on the bright side we have some exciting new features to announce!

In the coming weeks we will be introducing express delivery in the Boston metro area where we’ll guarantee delivery in under 24 hours for only $5!  Fast and Free USPS shipping will still apply for all New England customers, and weekday orders received by 12 noon will go out the same day.  Stay posted for more details soon!

In early September we’ll be launching a project we’ve been preparing for a few years and can’t wait to show y’all!  Overripe is our curation of assorted collectible skate related goodness from the early 70’s through 2016ish.  Our goal is to have an assortment of things to offer all types of collectors from different generations and with different budgets.  There will be hundreds of items including boards, clothing, NOS shoes, videos, mags, plus other assorted ephemera. All Overripe items have been sourced through outside channels and through our vintage partners at Salty Dames Relics, and we’re excited to offer these hard to find items to our fellow fans of skateboarding culture!

We can’t thank our community enough for all of the support y’all have shown us over the years, and especially over the last few months since we’ve had to temporarily transition into a 100% digital operation.  We also can’t wait to see y’all again at the shop or at events or out skating.  Boston has one of the greatest skate scenes in the world and we’re honored to be able to serve y’all for the last 15 years and we’re looking forward to serving y’all many years into the future.

Much Love,

The Orchard Fam
