It goes without saying that the last 18 months have been some of the most challenging times all of us have experienced, and we are incredibly fortunate enough to have such amzaing supporters to help us through everything. As we get ready to open to the public again we want to fill y’all in on with all the details about the move and things to come!
In late December 2019 new landlords told us that they were tripling the rent and would not be renewing our lease after 10 years in Allston, and we had to vacate by April. As we were closing in on a new location Covid came in and flipped everything upside down. We were lucky enough to find a temporary warehouse solution and rebuild the website so that we could continue to serve the scene while searching for a new brick and mortar shop.
Boston is a tricky city for retail real estate, with no perfect location. A neighborhood could be super easy to get to by public transportation but parking is a nightmare, or it could be easy to ride a bike or drive, but a tough commute on the T. Plus you can guarantee the rent is going to be a premium price no matter where you are!
After 20 months of searching we are incredibly excited to share the news about our new home opening in October! Located steps off the Greenway at the start of the North End, 149 North Street will be our ‘lil clubhouse that’s open to all and ready to serve the scene! A few minutes walk to every train line, 2 minute push to AQ, 10-15 minutes to Copley, Lynch, or Chinatown, plus hundreds of spots in between!
As accessible as it is for the city skaters and community, we understand that it’s not as easy to get to for many of our supporters who visited us in Allston. The new shop is also much smaller and can only hold part of our inventory, so we will continue offering Free Shipping in New England on any online order amount!
In addition to opening the new shop, we will also move the online warehouse closer to that part of town, and the last day for Curbside Pickups in Brighton is Saturday 9/25. Curbside Pickups at North Street should become available once we sort out all the kinks, but we’ll make sure to keep y’all posted.
We are endlessly grateful for the ongoing amount of love and support the Greater Boston skate community has shown us over the last 15+ years and especially the last 18 months! We are super excited to finally get the new space open again and get to serve the scene in person! We miss and love you all, and can’t wait to meet all the new faces too!
