When we first made the decision to open a new shop on Newbury Street this past summer, The !nd!v!duals Collective were our first choice of who we wanted to work with in creating the new shop's fixtures and build out.
The Individuals are a Brighton based artist collective that creates magical things from salvaged junk and reclaimed wood. Some of y'all might remember their "Lovesick Cafe" exhibit in the Extension Gallery at the Allston shop back in 2011. But instead of making cute, cuddly, canibalistic creatures, this project was all about creating an environment, and we couldn't be happier with the results!

On Saturday September 14th, 2013 Rick Howard and Mike Carroll came to Boston to celebrate the 20 Years of Girl art exhibit in the Extension Gallery at Orchard.
Before the show we met up with Mike, Rick, and a crew of homies at the Newbury shop to push around town for a group wear test of the new Vincent Alvarez pro model shoe from Lakai.
As seen in the clip, the Vincent's are ready to rip right out of the box, and many of the dudes are still skating them over a month after this first session.
Skating by Jeff Burke, Rick Howard, Mike Carrol, Nick Rudzinski, Tommy Wisdom, Armin Bachman, Ariel Pearl, Phil McCormick, Eddie Allen, Benny Goldman, Myles Underwood, John Wisdom, Rob Ridge, and the crew.
Video filmed and edited by Michael Chew, additional filming by Tin Tran.

Legend, badass, mad genius, and artist are a few of the words you could use to describe this pro skateboard Icon of style. The show will feature photographs and memorabilia from his 25+ year career in skateboarding.
The exhibit will also feature his unique sculpture art that is a blend of punk rock spirit, motorcycle culture and general weirdness that only Jason could come up with.
Come meet this icon in the flesh at the opening reception:

In celebration of the 20 Years of Girl art exhibit we hosted at the Extension Gallery at our Allston shop, we teamed up with Girl on a collaboration project that included a deck, tee shirt, and mixtape DVD of 20 of our favorite parts from the last 20 years of Girl Films.
For the last 20 years, Girl has put out some of the most iconic skate videos of all time. We grew up idolizing the skaters and parts from these videos, watching and rewatching these VHS tapes with rarely a FF button pushed.
The concept of a skate mixtape is nothing new, and recently the remix master Manolo put together an awesome mix to commemorate Girl's milestone.
In the days before computer editing systems were commonplace, we used to make custom mix tapes of our favorite parts using 2 VCR's and whatever spare VHS tape was around. To celebrate 20 years of inspiration we have put together a mix of our 20 favorite parts from Girl Films. When creating our mix we aimed to keep the process as close to the original analog methods we used growing up. Each part on this mix was recorded on a VCR one-by-one, and then the entire mix was transferred to a computer to be uploaded to Vimeo and made into a DVD.
With so many amazing parts to choose from, we created guidelines for our selections that included any Girl team rider part from any Girl or Chocolate film, as well as including Chocolate rider's parts from a Girl video - ie Keenan in Mouse.
These video parts represent style, innovation, and timeless skateboarding.
DVD copies of the mix are available for free with the purchase of a deck or tee shirt from our Girl X Orchard capsule project which are available in both of our Boston locations and in our online shop at www.orchardshop.bigcartel.com
